Bravo for attempting red/orange chequers!
Strangely, yet for all their lousiness, Profanity´s, ehem, I mean, Academy´s decals cover well over painting!
I had to touch up some of the red and yellow with Revell´s 36-red, and Humbrol´s 24-yellow, because of some mismatch
on the cowling, but it turned up looking not too bad.
Today´s is not a good day for modelling, it´s more for reading books.
But I´ll use the free days over Easter, to finish the kit!
Waiting for the day, when wars for territory will be something to be read about in history books only.

small update:

Image

do you see my mistake?
Spinner should be red/yellow/red, not: yellow/red/yellow, like I did.
I noticed while I was in the middle of painting, but I kept on going....my "artistic license"... :-D
wanted to go on with it today, but I´m afraid I´m still too tired/lazy of the week´s work :???:

Not finished yet, but getting there...
I was too lazy to use all Easter holiday to finish it, was more in to reading...
hopefully this time the canopy will look good in the end, w/o any blind spots from varnishing, or scratching up by razor...

....life got in between finishing this one, but not in a too bad way.
My mind was not so much into modelling the past weeks, more into hanging out with people, and reading.
Now I have to tidy up my flat for the craftsmen to build in new windows, the old ones got rotten and untight.
Work like this makes a lot of dust, so no modelling during pentecost holiday (and this week)!

That P-51 looks very promising CP. You are right to protect your models from the window fixers, the job creates a lot of mess!

...only thing left to do is unmasking the canopy, which I fear a bit.
It has been some months since I put the liquimask, so it got a bit hard, which makes it more difficult to remove
"Lesson one: don´t leave liquimask on canopies for too long!"
I´m still very clumsy with canopies, but, hey! modelling is about learning, just like in life ;-) !

...worked out well, to my surprise! I softened up the hardened mask with some thinner, then it came off nicely.

I really made a drama out of finishing this one, but ´tis done now!
It´s not OOB, the wheel well, tail wheel, wing pylons and rudder (Heller´s rudder was better, but....I´ll explain later) are from a Special Hobby Mustang. Inner landing gear doors are from a Mistercraft Mustang (the ripped-off Hasegawa Mustang B/C),
the belly scoop and main tyres are from Italeri, the antenna is from dunno-where, but apart from that,
it´s all straight from Hell(er)!
Heller´s airscrew was cut and filed to look better. The little thingies that hold the doors to the undercarriage´s legs were scratched.
Flaps were cut out to get hung down, that´s were I made something funny that made the kit look worse then it was before the
treatment, more to that later.

That's a very nicely finished Mustang.
