Curtiss F7C -1 Seahawk
Curtiss F7C -1 Seahawk
Ah ... the sweet smell of vacform sanded plastic is back up my nostrils. This is the Esoteric vacform kit of a lesser known type (only 17 were built), i.e. the Curtiss F7C-1 Seahawk. It served with the US Marines in the early 1930s including forming 'The Red Devils' aerobatic team.
The kit is to the usual high quality one expects from Esoteric. The wing angles made it tricky to make and fit the struts, but it got there in the end. An optional engine cowling is provided that I decided not to use. It seemed a shame to hide the nicely cast metal engine.

So nice. Vacs scare the heck out of me.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Totally agree with Iggie. That is superbly built by someone who has mastered the dark arts of vacuforms.

Just lovely.
Re: Curtiss F7C -1 Seahawk
Wow, that is really special. A fine work in modelling.
I don't know what bit me, but, I've taken a peculiar liking to the yellow winged theme of late. So much so, that I've turned my back on all others it would seem. So far this year, I've purchased 7 kits of 6 different species of aircraft; all that will carry the 1930's yellow winged look.
Your model is a wonderful example of fine modelling.
