1/48 Revell Boeing Stearman PT-17 Kaydet. USAAF1941-47

Post by TobyC »

This really has been a joy to build. Very little fettling required. Every just fell together. I can really recommend it. Paints used were Vallejo MA French Blue and Vallejo MA Yellow Gold RLM04. I painted the yellow over a base coat of their dayglo red. Orange will work just as well as it gives it a good depth of colour. I used Bob's Buckles for the rigging points on the upper wing and EZ line was used for the rigging. Also used were HGW seat belts but these proved to be problematic as they're two ply and were buggers to thread as the ply separated. In the end I gave up and didn't use all the parts supplied.Tbh the moulded belts on the seats are perfectly adequate.
To quote the final words of the late John le Mesurier "It's all been rather lovely"

A sweet look in the yellow winged scheme. Fine modelling!

Great result on this classic aircraft. Splendid job with the double rigging.

Agree with Vacant - the rigging is very good. The overall finish is excellent too - in all a great build. I had no idea this was available in this scale - I thought that it was only in God's Own Scale.

That is a wonderful model of this classic biplane, very realistic and well painted in what has to be one of the best schemes for the aircraft IMHO.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Well built, rigged, and painted -- appreciate the color info.
Looks like some silvering under the fuselage "136", if you haven't sealed it perhaps you can prick it in a couple places on try some more decal setting solution.

Unfortunately something I hadn't noticed until it was exposed under flash photo by which time it had been sealed. Thanks all for positive comments

Looks lovely, Toby. I've built this kit and agree with your comments, an excellent little kit (and great value too).
