Airfix Shorts Skyvan 1/72

Post by Barry »

well, I've been building, but not posting  Finished this one in April. OOB with 26 Decal. No particular problems except for getting the windscreen to fit laterally. don't know if it was their problem on mine. Looks ok now if you don't get too close.

That is a lot of great work put into a kit of a thoroughly useful looking aircraft.

Looks great Barry. I'll watch out for that windscreen issue when I build mine.

That looks a darn sight better than 'Ok' to me; lovely build of a not so lovely aircraft!
Best wishes

I've always been intrigued by the permutations of that colour scheme - which was better known through Northeast and Cambrian. As far as I know, British Air Services (which was their umbrella organisation in that period) never operated as an airline under its own name. Therefore these odd ball versions of the scheme are a bit puzzling.

Nice, did you remove the fuselage rivets to get the decals down?

Great work, you've done a stunning job on it. I've always liked the look of the Skyvan. The flying Ford Transit is one of the kinder nicknames I have heard this type called. Most of them I can't put on a family forum.
I really must get one of mine done in the NASA scheme, It's a pity Airfix didn't put that aircraft's name on the decal sheet.

All the best.

Beautifully done! That is certainly one of the aircraft I would avoid flying in again if given a choice. I've flown on it many times as it was used as commuter from Poughkeepsie NY to Boston's Logan Airport.
Loud, shaky, and prone to not liking any turbulent air at all. I was always thankful to get off of that thing with all my dental work intact.
