Here's Airfix's mongrel MIG 15. A simple enough kit but inaccurate in size and missing some details like the canopy center frame and wing pitot. I used a set of decals from Kopro.
This particular aircraft was flown into Kimpo airbase in South Korea by a defecting North Korean , Lieutenant No Kum-sok on 21st September 1953. The aircraft is now on display at National Museum of the United States Air force at Wright -Patterson Air force Base.
Nice job on the MiGs! I'm currently building this kit using the supplied Hungarian markings (fortunately I have a second kit from which I liberated two green dots for the center of the Hungarian stars as 8 are required but only 6 supplied on the decal sheet). It went together easily enough, and I have installed an Eduard etch cockpit but, I'm building the weekend edition Eduard 1/72 MiG-15 bis alongside the Airfix kit and the size difference between the two is readily apparent. The Airfix wingspan is only slightly larger than the Eduard, but the Airfix kit is maybe 5-7mm longer. The surface detail on the Eduard kit is also much more refined and complete.
Very nice build and finish; accuracy aside it certainly looks like a '15!

This aircraft was probably the first that I ever built 9With the help of my older brother) - it was an original 1950's Airfix release. Looking at yours has brought back some happy memories. However I must say that your model is infinitely better than the one I produced!!!
Good build, Shane and it makes a change to see one in U.S. markings. I didn't realise that there were accuracy issues with this new tool version though.
