I'm not sure which kit this was (Gregers can tell us). It might be Arii, or Eidai, or whoever else boxed it. It was donated to me in a condition that indicated that some restoration was needed.
I removed the previous paint, added the missing parts, moulded some new glazing and gave it a repaint job.
The Irish Air Corps operate five of these aircraft in a variety of roles. There were originally eight, the first being delivered in 1972. They are due to be replaced at some stage.

The Air Corps have had these aircraft around 40 years now. They came with underwing rocket pods.
Nice result too.

I believe it was the Arii kit. I was given this one years ago, I was in my early 20's so almost 30 years ago now and I passed it on to Vacant late last year. It had been built by a young girl and was going to be junked in a clearout before I got it. Superb restoration job. it looks great in those colours.

I can't see how you decided any restoration was necessary....
Lovely rebuild and paint scheme

One thing I forgot to mention is that the yellowing on it was from when a friend of mine accidentally set my flat on fire whilst I was out. It was one of the very few models that survived. Again superb restoration.

Lovely kit, nice scheme and tight piece of restoration. Always nice to see a small air force modeled as well.

I have that kit still in its box. I would like to do it as one of the regular flying club Cessna 172s that I used to say at Dublin's Iona Air Club hangar in the 1970s.

Amazing how you manage to recover and restore these old kits. A real work of love there - and extremely well done.
