Gloster Meteor Mk 8; Rareplanes 1/72

Post by vacant »

This is the Rareplane Vacforms Meteor Mk 8 which (apart from the ancient FROG kit) was for a long time, the only Mk 8 available. It was released in 1980. It's still well worth building and for various reasons, would be a great vacform kit for anyone who wanted to start building vacforms.

The markings were the difficult part as none were provided. The roundels came from spares. I painted dayglow strips on decal paper. The other markings were made from odds and ends (which explains why they look a bit 'off' in places).

The canopy had yellowed so I used it to mould a new one in clear plastic card.

The 79 squadron colour scheme is the main one suggested in the kit's plans. This is my second build of the Rareplane Mk 8. It's one of those aircraft one could build over and over without running out of different colour schemes.

Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

I am in awe how you tackled this old vac-kit. Really nice model.
