He who would Valiant be?

It's probably and unfair question/comaprison, but has anyone built the Mach 2 Vickers Valiant? I'm positive Airfix's kit is a beaut, but the Mach 2 kit seems cheaper

Not built either but I have both. The Mach2 kit is basic and is typical of a short run kit. Also I have read that the canopy is wrong is side profile and stands too high but I can not confirm that. The Airfix kit is much more finely detained and will be an easier build from what I can judge by dry fitting of both kits. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I started the Mach 2 Valiant.... The wheel well 'boxes' needed absolutely masses of sanding to allow the wing halves to even get close to touching, the canopy is indeed big and high looking and the wings were wonky, one went up, the other went downwards. It's still around somewhere, in bits, waiting....... Wouldn't really go for it, myself. Go Airfix.

I recall a review before well before the Airfix kit existed that the Mach 2 kit actually has fuselage halves that aren't the same length. Incidentally back then the Mach 2 kit was more expensive than the Airfix kit is now.

Yes, Contrail did one - that's the one in the photo below. They seem to be permanently on sale on EBay at either low or optimistic prices, especially since Airfix brought out its kit. Now there's a surprise! But unless you want to build a vacform for vacform's sake, then buy the Airfix one. The Valiant is a very big aircraft so it is worth paying bit extra for a high quality one.
