Airfix De Havilland Comet 4B

Post by Eric Mc »

The build for this was shown in the Shared Build Workbench forum.

Here's how it turned out in the end. Not too bad - even if I say so myself and especially considering the vintage of the moulds (1962).

Looks lovely, Eric. I just read your Shared Build thread with interest, as I have one of these to build. The polished metal areas look great.

Thanks. I'm being very spare with my one and only pot of Hannants BEA Red. It isn't in their colour list at the moment so I expect it has been discontinued.
If anyone knows an alternative brand that is close to BEA Red, let me know.

That's a lovely build Fred, of a lovely aircraft; those colours work nicely with the grace and elegance of the Comet
Best wishes

Fred's always taking credit for my work. It's so annoying.

Regarding the Comet, it looked graceful whatever colour scheme it sported. The next Comet 4 I build will probably in the BEA Red Square scheme.

This is an awesome build. I have ine of there I built for mine and the CBK's first trip to Telford. (Truth be known it was that close a finish the clear wss still drying when the model was on the display table). Yours puts mine well in the shade. Seeing your build is going to have me spending money next week as we have some Amodel comets in at work, I was resisting

All the best.

The A Model Comet is eye wateringly expensive. I've heard it's not that accurate considering that it's a recent kit.

Cheers for the heads up. It will save me a few quid. Still I had a look on ebay for deHavilland models and now for a tenner I have three Mossies, one Matchbox and two Airfix Swedish Nightfighter boxings on their way.

All the best.

That's a nice result. I didn't get one of these yet, but will need to add one to the collection.

Very nice work. Seems that de Havilland were incapable of designing anything other that the most pretty aircraft.
