Kit by Heller, some scratchbuilt bits in the office. Airfield base by Coastal Models (and very nice it is too).
Five (or perhaps six) of these were sent to Congo in 1960 to fight the breakaway republic of Katanga. The war is the subject of a decal sheet by DP Casper and the subjects were so nice I thought I'd give them a go as a change of pace from the South Vietnamese types. It's also the sort of obscure rubbish I go for, as I'm sure some other forum members can confirm (cough*old tonto*cough) .
A nice old kit that went together fairly well although if I'd known about it beforehand I might have tried the new Tarangus kit.
I tried rescribing panel lines (still needs a bit of work) and basic weathering (still needs a LOT of work) but if you don't push the boundaries a bit you don't learn. All in all I'm pleased with my first major build in a few years.
