UN Iranian AF F-86F in the Congo, 1961
Four of these operated out of Luluaville AB between 1961 when they replaced the Ethiopian AF contingent in the Congo, fighting the breakaway Republic of Katanga. As far as I can tell, they were Marshall Plan ex-USAF F-86-30s. Information gets a bit patchy with this operation after all.
Academy kit, basic but nicely engineered, decals by DP Casper. Mainly painted with Tamiya spraycans, which didn't come out quite the way I hoped but what you gonna do?

That looks really nice.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Very nice build, and good to see some less well known markings
Best wishes

I don't think I even knew Iran had F-86's, let alone that they were in the Congo!!.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

A lovely Sabre mate. Looks like only you & I know about these obscure wars.
You should put some images of your 'Football War' collection up on here.

I did two Corsairs for the Corsair GB, one from each side in the Football War. Also did a Belize Air Force Islander so I have a tiny bit of knowledge of some smaller conflicts!!.Old_Tonto wrote:A lovely Sabre mate. Looks like only you & I know about these obscure wars.

DP Casper do a decal sheet for that too, so the thought has occurred I should make another pass at it.Old_Tonto wrote:A lovely Sabre mate. Looks like only you & I know about these obscure wars.
