Airfix 1/72 Messerschmitt Me 109E
This is the Aircraft of the Aces boxing of this kit. Brush painted with Humbrol enamels, fuselage mottles done with a small piece of sponge. Kit decals used except for the swastikas. I raised the canopy with a couple of strips of plastic as it sat a little low.

I built that 30 odd years ago. At the time I thought it was quite a nice kit. I'd forgotten how much of a rivet monster it was.
I hope you don't mind me pointing out that the wing dihedral looks a bit excessive.

Nice mottling but the angle of the undercarriage looks off - can you turn them round?
running at the edge of their world

Great bit of old school modelling.

Certainly a blast from the past. The rivets are rather prominent because of your close up photographs, but hte mottling looks very convincing. That is so hard to get right in this scale - you have done a good job there.

Thanks. I thought the wing should be a little flatter, but for the first time in one of my builds I glued the top wings to the fuselage then added the one piece bottom wing to avoid any gaps. Hence the dihedralEric Mc wrote:I built that 30 odd years ago. At the time I thought it was quite a nice kit. I'd forgotten how much of a rivet monster it was.

Thanks. I don't reckon my brushed finishes are as smooth as yours… yetcelt wrote:Well tidy mun.
Thanks. I checked the instructions twice to make sure I had the undercarriage the right way round. I'll check again thoughStamford wrote:Nice mottling but the angle of the undercarriage looks off - can you turn them round?

Thanks. As my Brother in Law keeps telling me "If you think you're close enough…..Get closer"Lone Modeller wrote:Certainly a blast from the past. Nice job Nigel! These schemes are hard to do with a brush, but you've pulled it off mate!
Loving those rivets! (No, not sarcasm, I genuinely like CBK rivet detail).

Just checked again I've glued the wrong gear doors to the wrong legs but then cemented them to the model with the gear doors on the right sides (if you follow this) consequently the scissor links on the legs face forward instead of rearward. I don't think my daughters have noticed I won't tell anyone if you don'tStamford wrote:Nice mottling but the angle of the undercarriage looks off - can you turn them round?
And thanks Zee
