1/72 RN Dauphin - Update

Post by gengriz »

Modelling time has been very thin on the ground over the last few months, so instead of a new build, I have taken the opportunity to update a previous build.

Image

Back in 2009, I built two RN FOST Dauphin helicopters based on the Matchbox/Revell kit, one in the original red Bond Helicopters scheme, and one in the updated blue scheme that had just been introduced. I was never happy with the colour of the blue one, but after 3 different colours had been applied, I felt that a fourth risked really messing up what had been a very satisfying build. However, I have now grasped the bull by the horns, so to speak, and repainted it in a more credible attempt at Royal Blue!

The kit itself underwent a number of scratch changes, including new undercarriage fairings, various antennae and a new starboard cabin door. Decals came from the spares box.

Both stunning builds. Superb work.

All the best.

Nice work Fred but one important bit of information is missing. What did you use for the new Royal Blue?

HUmbrol 104. In fact this was the first colour I used in 2009, but it didn't look right then.
