What he said -- very much so. I also did the Viggen camo once upon a time, but in 1/72 scale. I'm not ashamed to admit that I drew it onto the model first. What a job! And you have done it so very well.

Also nice to see the characteristic Flygvapnet green AAMs. A lot of modellers have them the more usual white, or even grey. Not quite sure why the Swedes painted them green, but I suspect it had something to do with their policy of dispersed basing and the feeling that the white would be too visible -- but I could be spouting nonsense. Anyone know for sure?

Stunning work.
Just goes to show what you can achieve if you get stuck in.

Sorry,I just noticed your comment about not masking, and there I asked how you masked it.

I get the forum ding-dong award for that one.

But I'm amazed at how you got such sharp lines WITHOUT masking. It's beautiful.

I really like that, the camo is superb. The best scheme for a Viggen but the hardest to pull off. Well done.

I built that very kit eons ago! But I chickened out on that paint scheme. I just went with an overall gray scheme.
I would rate this as one of ESCI’s better toolings.
You really did a magnificent job here!

Wow! :wow That's all I can say, wow.

You've done an amazing job with that paint scheme and no masking. You should be proud of yourself.

Only this morning I was considering buying an Airfix Vertol (Sea Knight) with that same scheme. Like yourself I was going to do it without masking (I hate masking :frown: ). My other half thinks I'm nuts (and maybe he's right ;-) ) but if it comes out as well as yours, I'll be extremely pleased with myself.

By the way, what type of brush did you use?

Thank you!
It must be around 15 years since I built this, so I don't remember the precise brushes, but it would have been a couple of small brushes for all the line and corner work, and a medium brush to fill in the spaces.

Take it slow, and you can do it too. Without the hassle of masking, mistakes can be repainted relatively easily.

Cheers,

Hi,

Thanks for the tips about the brushes, David. I just hope I'll be able to get as good a finish as you did, well done.

That's a splendid job. Unmasked and by brush, too. I've a mind to bash mine together now as it's been lying round for about 10 years I think.
