He277B-1
He277B-1
Hi folks,
Haven't been doing much modelling recently, and haven't been posting (post-PB debacle) any pics of what little I have been doing. Anyway, here is my Whatif He277B-1, completed from 2 Airfix He 177s, the butchered rear end from a Revell 177A-6 boxing and twin fins donated from an E-2C (I think) by one of you nice uamf chaps.
Apologies for the gopping background. Need to buy some more backing paper. Anyway, let's see whether I can post images:
regards,
Martin

Not sure about 277 but it looks a lot like a He 274 http://www.aviastar.org/air/germany/he-274.php, whatever it is, I really like the look of it.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Re: He277B-1
That's quite a cool-looking "whatif" build. I've never done such a build myself, but wouldn't mind giving it a try someday.
Re: He277B-1
Thank you, all. This one has taken a long time as there was a 6 month hiatus in the middle due to life and lack of motivation. PB going down didn't help.
Initial thought behind the build: what if the db610 engine had been a success, and the Germans wanted a "bigger faster 177". However, comparing the cowling diameter with the Revell 177 leads me to suspect the Airfix ones are really undersized. Clearly, my 277 has smaller engines than the 610.
Also, not sure an aerodynamicist would approve of 'overlapping' prop blades.
@Propwash
If you've got a whatif idea, I'd encourage you to give it a go. I found it sharpened up my scratchbuilding and 'solutioneering' skills.
@Stevehnz
Yep, looks a lot like a He274, although the wing planform and cowlings are different. I also always thought the 274 fuse ahead of the wings looked a bit truncated.

First of all, let me just say it's nice to have you back mate.
Secondly.... Crikey! That's huge! Excellent conversion work though, very skilled.
