Revell 1/72 PBY Catalina in pre-WWII "Yellow Wings" markings
An older release Revell kit I picked up off eBay USA a couple of years ago:
I built this one as part of another forum's group build, but I thought I'd share it with all of you. The blue unit markings are hand painted decal film and the black outline striping is printed decal film using my laser printer. I built this kit (the old 1960s "black cats" version) when I was a youngster, so this was a nostalgia build for me. No issues were encountered with the build. Typical early Revell with lots of rivets and operating parts.

Excellent looking build and strikingly photographed too!
Best wishes

Oh those rivets! That is a very striking colour scheme, very different from the more usual wartime schemes seen on these models.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. Yes, those rivets are something. I'm glad they aren't on most modern kits, but if you build older kits like I do, they are part of the kit. True I could spend a lot of time sanding them all off and re-scribe the panel lines, but I've long since abandoned that level of attention to detail. That much work would soon cause me to quit building again as I'd get frustrated. It's just easier for me to build these old kits as they were meant to be built back in the day.Lone Modeller wrote:Oh those rivets!
