XZ964 (P) was on the strength of No. 233 OCU at Wittering, 7th August 1984.

XZ992 was with No.1 (F) Squadron at Wittering on 29th March 1982 and by April had been allocated fin code – Red 05. Left Wittering on 28th May for the Falkland Conflict, returning to Wittering on 16th November 1982.

Harrier GR.3 XV760, No. 1 Squadron, No. 233 OCU, recorded 23rd April 1976 just prior to its Test Flight following fitment of nose LRMTS and tail PWR as part of its ‘Phase 4’ upgrade, the first “in service” GR.3 to be so modified. The aircraft was recoded “Blue 42” that evening, re-entering service as such 24th April.

XW927 233 Operational Conversion Unit, RAF Wittering 7 November 1976, the aircraft had been given a rather crude overall respray and an 8” code, instead of the normal 10”, was applied to both sides of the fin.

XW268 233 Operational Conversion Unit, RAF Wittering 15 July 1977. This was the first T-Bird to receive the wrap-around camouflage scheme, occurring on 18-07-75. Originally coded ‘Blue 54’, on 27-04-77 was redesignated ‘Blue Uncle’.

I actually worked on that particular aircraft at St Athan around that time. 8-)
