This Revell Monogram kit is actually older than me! 1959 If I recall the stamped date inside the fuselage correctly. Raised panel lines and rivets galore, no wheel bays and a foetus for a pilot, I sanded down the rivets and panels and rescribed them and made up the decals as no commercial ones would have fitted the supposed 1/48 (actually more like 1/53!) places. The probe and one of the nose wheel doors are AWOL, so the probe here is actually the exhaust pipe from a Hawker Demon that I'll bulk out a bit at the root.

That looks the business, even more surprising given the 'box scale' and huge amounts of work that sprucing it up must have called for. It just proves the old saying that you can dig gold out of any mountain.

Cheers chaps. To say this kit is basic is perhaps an understatement, it is a supposed "1/48" kit with the grand total of 30 parts! I bought a 1/48 Grumman Panther PE set at the same time as I ordered it with the intention of detailing it, but nothing fitted In the end I had to scratch the IP, side panels, ejector seat, sights and shelf. At the time it was the only game in town big Cougar wise.

Given your expertise with figures, I opened this expecting a figure of a 'lady of a certain age'!

Really nice job on what sounds a truly vintage kit. The scribing looks good. That's something that scares me.

What did you do about wheel wells? I usually just paint them onto kits that don't have any.
