Unusual Navy aircraft part IV 1/72

Post by Navy one »

Hi all, here is my last set of unusual US Navy aircraft.
The rest of my collection are the usual suspects such as the Hellcat, Wildcat and of course the mighty Tomcat , of wich 22 are in my fleet.
Of course the Skyhawk , Intruder ,dauntless and avenger are present. As are the Prowler,Viking, Privateer and all the others.A 148 in total.

But here are the final set of oddballs, hope you enjoy.

Firsrt up is the Lockheed XR2O-1 (also known as the model 10) personal aircraft for the Secretary of the Navy. Model is Special Hobby.

Second is the Sikorsky HO4S-1. All decals made by me with help of the Emil Buehler library who send me pictures and info on colors and lettering. model is Italeri.

Third up is the Boeing PB-1W Early warning. Decals out of my spare box , later I found that RVHP have the conversion kit with decals. Model is from Academy.

Next is an experimental plane that saddly never flew, the Vought XF5U-1 Flying Flapjack. Model from Hasegawa.

All-in-all, an excellent collection of interesting naval aircraft.

My last time at the Pensacola museum, I saw a TDR-1 drone that would be an interesting addition.

I have never seen a kit of it, however.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

I always enjoy your builds, Navy One. Was there anything the US Navy didn't use at some time? :)

More great builds and I've found your collections of USN oddballs to be very interesting - it would seem that there isn't much the Navy hasn't tried out!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Thank you for your kind remarks.
It does seem as if the navy tried everything.
