That's really good! You must have some patience and a steady hand to do that 'cracked ice camouflage so well!

You have done absolutely the right thing building that Uhu, and it has turned out well.
The fun is a bonus!
Cheers,
David

Thanks. Painting the scheme just took a steady hand and a few hours time. It's patterned on a He-219 being restored by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington. I don't know how accurate it is, but it sure looks stunning.

Here are the pictures I used to paint this one:

Wow....i forgot that Lindberg produced this kit. It looks fabulous! I'll have to see about finding one for myself.

You can find them on eBay too. If you want a so-so He-219 kit, go buy the old Revell one. A better kit is the Dragon kit - it has much better detailing as it is a much more modern tooling.
This Lindberg kit was just a spot $5.00 purchase. It was fun because it was such a basic "shell" kit that allowed me to be creative and try new things. If I screwed it up, who'd care? It only cost me 5 bucks.

My approach exactly to bargain basement kits - nothing to lose so go for it and have some fun. Great result.

Very nice indeed, PMM and that is some paint job - I think I'd have had a headache doing that! I agree with your sentiments, for 5 bucks you can't go wrong really and as it happens you've ended up with a very nice budget Uhu

Very nice work on a very sweet score. I have the FROG and Revell ones in the deep stash and am a little intimidated by that scheme, though it does suit the Uhu so well.

You are a brave man building this Uhu
I can remember several being binned by disheartened mates when I was a lot younger, couldn't understand why as it's a bit better than the Revell H-160 (1966) offering and quit a bit better than the Frog F-177 kit of the same year.
Great work on this, nicely finished
The reverse blotch camo (not sure of its correct name) is accurate, the colours of the Uhu were revealed when the Smithsonian removed the wing fillets revealing the camo as shown in your pic. At present they are working on the wings and soon the only surviving Uhu will be completed!!
I built the Revell Uhu way back (1980's) came out OK.
There are accuracy issues with the Dragon Uhu's also, so we're left waiting for an 'accurate' 1/72 Uhu

That's really nice, Allan. Really nice.
Shall I send you my old IXO He-219 for you to do a Code-3 on it?
