Ethiopian Air Force F-86F - Congo Sabre number 3

Ethiopian Air Force F-86F Sabre, UN Air Contingent Congo, Elizabethville 1962

The Ethiopians were in the first wave of aircraft sent into Congo alongside the Swedes and the Indian Canberras. They didn't stay very long as early in their mission one of the Sabres crashed and the EAF were unable to send a replacement. As three aircraft were not enough to carry out the UN Mission's duties, they returned to Ethiopia and were replaced by an Iranian AF detachment.

Not just the last Sabre, but the last build in my Congo project, with a possible helicopter component coming later. This was the Hobby Boss easy build kit, which was an easy build, exactly as it says on the box :-D . It also gives a rather nice replica of the Sabre, with the caveat that no amount of nose weight will make it sit properly, hence the prop I've added under the tail.

So. so long Congo - time to start building for a new project.

Great looking Sabre and the NMF is equally good!
I've enjoyed reading about this little known 'war" as each build had been unveiled; history lessons and great modelling in one place, what's not to like? :-D :-D
Best wishes

Nice one and thanks for the history too - I didn't know that Ethiopia had ever operated the F-86. A great build, Mr Owl!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.
