Airfix 1/144 SE 210 Caravelle
My first airliner for 40-odd years
The decals fought me a bit, edges started breaking up in a couple of places and they took a lot of setting solution to get them to stick around curves...
Paints are AK Interactive Extreme metallic (polished aluminium) and some rather ancient Humbrol acrylics . The window glazing was done as per instructions although I lost the supplied punch, but I managed to avoid too much damage to the cheat lines
The kit itself went together nicely for it's age and I think I'll do some more civil airliners soon!

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

It’s great to see an old kit turned into such a nice model, very well done, and I especially like the stand. Was it included in the kit?

Beautiful. Remember doing this many moons ago when all I had was tube glue and my Dad's woodworking tools You can imagine how that turned out

Stunning work, I love the stand, it looks so sixties retro.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

A great build of this classic airliner, Jim, the stand is excellent and IMHO looks much better than one of those standard Airfix stands that I've never really liked - when it comes to manufacturer's "classic" stands I prefer the Matchbox and FROG affairs.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Cheers folks I'm going (possibly) to try and take some better photos of her, as the ones I've used don't look to good on the big screen
The stand (which seems to have unwittingly become the star of the show ) is from an Academy kit, but I have no idea which one or when I acquired it. It may have been in a job lot of stands I bought from eBay years ago, the rest of which I cannot find! It does look quite good I have to say

Always was a looker.
Re: Airfix 1/144 SE 210 Caravelle
Yeah, the models rubbish, it's the stand we want to see!! . In all honesty, despite being French the Caravelle is a beautiful aircraft and one of three I would build, French or not. (The others are the Mirage 2000 and IV). This is lovely stuff.iggie wrote:Cheers folks I'm going (possibly) to try and take some better photos of her, as the ones I've used don't look to good on the big screen
