Airfix Junkers Ju87B Stuka 1:72 A03087

Post by iggie »

Although started a little while back, this one has been delayed due to a certain pair of horses and a cart.....anyway, I finally got it finished last night and photographed today.

It's a great little kit, plenty of detail OOB, and for me no fit issues that I noticed
All paint is acrylic from the usual suspects and applied by brush as it is too cold/damp for the airbrush.

Lovely, Iggie.

The acrylic brushed nicely. What brand and any tips, please?

Two thumbs up

That's an unbelievable finish for brush painting. A fantastic build altogether.

Nice job on the Stuka. I built the old (1960s?) Airfix 1/72 Stuka as a kid; this new one is soooooo much better!

Been modelling for years, still learning . . . .
Model kits are meant to be assembled . . . . . . . . . . eventually.

Thank you folks!

The paint is Humbrol acrylic for the top-sides and Revell Aqua on the underside.
No real tips to be honest, I don't thin them too much for brushing, but they don't want to be too thick either. I add some flow enhancer and use a wide flat brush whenever possible. Work quickly to avoid a dry edge developing

I too remember the original Airfix Stuka: this really is a completely different model. You have certainly done it real justice - a little gem if ever i saw one.

As others have commented, you did an outstanding job of painting that little marvel. On par with a quality die cast, imho.

Wonderful result, Jim, though I think these photos could be improved to show some contrast.
I have got one of these kits, but I am determined to first build the previous Airfix generation of Stuka, which also seems quite nice, and which I have not built before (I also found the previous generation Airfix 1/48 Stuka to be a fine kit, and was very surprised to see a new tool when there are so many other potential subjects ).

Cheers,

David

Great-looking Stuka, but the fin is so bare without the swastika! It would really be improved by adding the missing markings from one of the various aftermarket sheets. Other than that, an excellent rendition of the truly ugly variant of the Ju-87.
