Heck of a time to be finding this out I know, but this is how they did it (minus the extended 'greenhouse' canopy).

These Polish Pipers don't appear to have the extended glazing. KP may have erred in putting 'ambulance' decals with an observation variant. Possibly the Poles could have modified some planes with a side opening compartment ala the Stinson L5, but I couldn't find any photos of this.

Perhaps it would be appropriate to paint over the glazing at the rear?

That's what I'd do...maybe also eliminate the frame. Tricky though, with that 'SP' decal right there. Otherwise, just paint

Nice find Barry! wish I'd seen them earlier but such is life  I'll repaint the offending area and hopefully the frames will just appear to be reinforcements.

Me too Tom...but it was only after the repeated "how'd they do that?" questions that I thought to look it up.

All done  and with a repainted rear canopy to try and match the great reference pictures that Barry has supplied. This time painted only with Citadel and Tamiya acrylics, which is a first for me as I usually rely on enamels for colour schemes.
The float arrangement was a bit of a 'mare to get together and they aren't quite in the right place (a couple of mm too far back on the fuselage) hence the exaggerated tail down posture. But she isn't a tail sitter :-D

I've just noticed that one of the float seams has opened up again  I'll sort it when I have a chance.

Cute little model Tom. Interesting orientation of the fin flashes, by the way.

When I've reduced my Stash a mite further, I might go looking for one of these.

That looks really nice Tom. It's going to be floats for me too on the Norseman.

Don't worry she just looks eager to get into the air

Nice one Tom and I agree that it does look very Auster-like. I can't help wondering about those fin flashes though, they look a bit..well..odd, for want of a better word. I've never seen the Polish national markings orientated like that but chances are Kopro are right and I'm not.

tail marking is unusual, but not unique:

I thought that someone would have a reference, thanks for clarifying that Barry. It still looks odd though!
