Pete's 1/72 Airfix Tiger Moth

Post by pete1979 »

I won this kit of ebay and it was described as part built. In reality it was part bodged with parts missing.

I'm quite happy with the finish of it as it's not the nicest kit I've ever built but it does have a certain charm to it. Scratchbuilt the seats, windscreens and spent an age repairing the ebay sellers handiwork.

Just realised that the interior was actually painted in a metallic shade, although it looks airfix grey on the photo's!

Didn't use the pilots as I've seen other pictures of this model on the web and in my opinion they don't look right.

You did a wonderful job on it, I had that kit years ago, not very detailed.

The kit is very poor, but I'm happy with the look of it, I could have done more detail BUT I have a Junkers 388 and a Victor that I want to crack on with and I just wanted it off the bench.

Nice rescue, Pete!

The grey could be said to be a scale effect dull metallic finish. ;-)

Despite the setbacks the finished model looks good. Lyell...

Not an easy kit to produce a good looking model out of, but you've done more than okay with it.

I think everyone should have a Tiggie on the shelf.

You've done a very nice job with a kit that's well past it's best. It's inextricable that we don't have AFAIK a modern mainstream 1/72 scale Tiger Moth.
