Botha Mk 1 L1671 UL A of 608 (North Riding) Squadron, Coastal Command, Thornaby August 1940.
Displayed on a basic sea base (a table mat with painted Polyfilla on top).
608 Sqn was the only Squadron to use Bothas on Operations before this Torpedo/Recce aircraft was relegated to a training role only. It was underpowered and couldn't maintain straight and level on one engine and was also unstable, making it completely unsuitable for either of its original roles and very unpopular with its crews. I assume by making of a training aircraft it was a case of 'if you can fly this, you can fly anything...'.

The PH Models Botha is Resin with vacform glazing. A reasonably straight forward build, but sorting the asymmetric nose glazing and turret were a little tricky. It's crewed with the multi-pose Revell RAF pilots.

Nice to see a Botha in any shape or form. A very much unloved aircraft.

Lovely subject - very well presented. I may have to play with an in-flight pose.

Just read what wickepedia had to say on the type - not a huge success! They kept crashing on ops so they used them as trainers where they kept crashing! Nice. They still churned out 550 of them despite only one suadron going operational - somebody on an earner?
