Jaguar E; E/C 2/7

Post by Viking »

after many months of building odds 'n sods like rockets, armour, ships, WWI etc, i decided to add a model to my 1st theme; modern jets with special markings.

The plane is the Jaguar E, marked up by the French airforce for the 20th anniversary of EC 2/7 Argonne and the 80th anniversary of SPA 31 and SPA 48 in 1994.

The kit is the Italeri Jaguar T2 but, as far as i can tell, there are few external differences between the RAF and the French birds. The kit goes together very nicely; a little basic in the cockpit but good enough for me. just a little filler underneath to smooth in the fuselage join and the cannon bays. decals are from Toulouse Decals which are very nice; maybe a little thick, especially over the shield, but nice enough. the paint job is just careful masking; white then red then blue then grey then black... and, yes, if i am going to leave the canopies open, i must start painting the inside frame as well !

I'm impressed enough to look out for more Toulouse decals; the french have some very eccentric special schemes !
