Re: Heller 1/48 Mirage IV P
Beautiful, I must get round to building my 1/72 one some day.
The French offered it as a TSR2 replacement with British engines- there is a what if!

I am half-way through the Contrail 1/48 TSR.2 and the Airfix is generations ahead of it...would like to have both TSRs, the Mirage IV and a A-5 Viggie (c'mon, Trumpeter, get to it!!...all lined up together as tandem seat 60s strike aircraft...just a shame the Russians didn't do one as well...bobblelink wrote:The French offered it as a TSR2 replacement with British engines- there is a what if!

Very nice build. I have one in the stash that I really should get around to building.

Lovely result, and I found your in-progress reports really useful with some very innovative solutions to the kit's problems.

Thanks again for looking and your comments.
On the bright side, it's not the Sanger. FWIW, the best TSR-2 still has to be the Dynavector. Getting trickier to find these days but worth looking out for.SJPONeill wrote:I am half-way through the Contrail 1/48 TSR.2

The Sangar and Contrail TSRs are different? I never knew that...just always assumed Sangar is where a bunch of the Contrail molds ended up...

They could well be one and the same, I've only seen the Sanger one and it looked like far too much work for me.

Once the parts are cut out and sanded and the injected bits tidied up, the Contrail isn't too hard a build - there are a couple of massive trenches along the upper wing fuselage join to fill and, of course, you have to fake a cockpit (or just spray the canopy semi-opaque gold on the inside)...mine would be done except I had to AMS it...is about 1/2 (all the big bits) done but I am stalled on tarting up the undercarriage...now that I have the Airfix one, the Contrail one might get a crew and be displayed gear up in full burn low level...flakmonkey wrote:They could well be one and the same, I've only seen the Sanger one and it looked like far too much work for me.
