Airfix 1/144 Concorde
A kit that required a fair bit of filler. But very few parts and goes together quickly.
I brush painted the white. Three or four thin layers.
The tail decals were a bit odd. On on side it is one large, but it's too short. I touched up with red paint.
The other side it's two decals, where one is far too long, no problem in cutting it shorter. The other part too short, so touched up with paint.
I used Klear on this, which dried into brownish puddles and also got thick and sticky. I got off quite a lot, but not all as that would ruin the paint.
I coated the rest with Tamiya clear.
I got a bit 'sick' of the plane, resulting in a rush forced finish. But it doesn't look too bad now that I'm finally done with it.
I see the pictures are a bit dark, they were taken outside in daylight. But light is odd here at times of year.

Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

Excellence!
Re: Airfix 1/144 Concorde
Looks good, is it the 1/144 or 1/72 though? I know the 1/72 is a pig of a build, is the 1/144 really just as bad?

Turned out rather nicely, I think.

Re: Airfix 1/144 Concorde
Thanks guys, it's 1/144 Saxon. I don't have any idea about the 1/72 kit. The fuselage fit well here. Wing fuselage joints and exhaust requires filler allover, some places had larger gaps but that could have been my fault.
Not a bad kit, and very few parts. 'Nothing' can go wrong.
Taking the pictures today was a challenge though, there's very strong wind, so picturetaking was rushed. The wind moved the Concorde on the balcony many times, and knocked it over. If the wheels weren't stuck I swear it would be rolling forward for take-off!

The paint job from the photos looks flawless, well done!

A good gust of wind and it might have been an inflight picture!
It came out quite well, very sleek and clean looking.

Hi Ms. Sissel;
I saw a mistake in there. Need to do it again.
White painting perfect looking. Brilliant
Regards,
Maketci.

Sounds better than the 1/72 nightmare then! I sometimes think about getting one to do as a Bombcorde what if.Prisca wrote:Thanks guys, it's 1/144 Saxon. I don't have any idea about the 1/72 kit. Re: Airfix 1/144 Concorde
Thank you everyone for the kind words.
The white paint job looks smoother in the photos, but it came on rather nice, and I am pleased with it. Better than I thought. Up close and personal there's a little dust that's dried in as well, but this doesn't show unless you look at it real, real close.
So overall I'm pleased with the paint job. The tail decals not so much. But touching up with paint helped lots. The red paint doesn't match decal 100%, but this is also hard to spot unless you look real closely.

Hi Sissel,
if you had not said about the way you painted your Concorde I would have said it had been sprayed.
Well done!
I must admit to thinking about doing a diorama with a Concorde landing with everything out and nose down.
Its a iconic sight which I will never forget.
