AZ-Model 1/72 Black Israeli Spitfire IXe
Israeli Air Force
101. Tajeset IDF/AF, Personal mount of Sq. Commander Ezer Weizman
The build was documented in my workbench thread.
A kit that seems undersized. Fit is quite good, very little filler required. An enjoyable build.
Oddly enough, there was a stencil placement drawing, but no stencils on decal sheet!
The rudder decals were far to big and didn't really fit the shape of rudder very well. Cutting and paint touch ups were needed.
Still rainy and dark, not able to take pics in natural light. Excuse the shine from lamp, it makes for an unnatural look. It's suppose to be more of a satin finish, but I really like the glossy look, so left it like that.
As usual there were decal troubles. Here you'll see the line with insignia and 57 (one long decal) should be a few more millimeters to the left. But once on model it was impossible to move without dissolving, it was just stuck. The star, leaning to left, is not aligned with the line. Nothing I can do about that offcourse, but it is annoying. The decal on the other side was fine, luckily.

Shiny and forceful!
But I just am trying to force myself over those large brush marks. Still, a excellent model with groovy decals!

I think the original is preserved - or did I just make that up?

Re: AZ-Model 1/72 Black Israeli Spitfire IXe
Thanks all for the very nice comments.
If I could take pictures in natural light it would look completely different. Hate when shine highlight areas, thinking of brush marks and unnatural shine. Looking at the model from a distance of 15-20cm, I can't see the brush marks.
Next time I'm going for an all black model I will use Revell acrylic black (never Vallejo again!), they are much better as far as brush marks go. You can even put on a thick layer and it will settle down flat and better than Vallejo.
The shine from the lamp shows them even better.BlohmWolf wrote:Shiny and forceful!

Have no idea. Now you have to play private eye and find out.Eric Mc wrote:I think the original is preserved - or did I just make that up?

That looks brilliant Prisca, so nice to see a Spit wearing something completely different. I didn't realise is was kitted like that, I thought it may have been after-market decals.
Interesting link too Paul, thanks.

Re: AZ-Model 1/72 Black Israeli Spitfire IXe
Thank you, Zee.
There were three Israeli choices in the kit; allover aluminium w/blue spinner and tail stripes, my black, and a grey/green camo.
Thanks for the link, Paul.

There are two Spitfitres preserved in that scheme -0 the original, which is a museum (as I guessed earlier) and the flying example, which has been restored in those colours.
