I made some serious progress on the wheel cutting out this evening...I found that I can get through this harder card (for circles anyway) by starting on the side with the template stuck to it and gently circling the cutter around and around until the blade starts to bind, and then flipping the piece of card over and using the point from the needle at the centre of the compass cutter, cutting through the remainder of the card from the reverse side.

I also found that it is easier on the hands to hold the cutter in place and rotate the card with the part on it around the cutter. Many gentle cuts are more accurate and less likely to wander than a lesser number of heavier cuts...

Another stink TV night tomorrow so hope to continue the Star Trek Marathon, complete cutting the wheel parts and hopefully get them laminated...

You're gonna be really narked off if the government cancels this TSR2 project :ha: :-D :-D

You deserve a medal for persistence!
Best wishes

Almost there....only a few to go now...

I didn't get as much done as I expected tonight...worked late to get some things finished, and then took advantage of the fine evening to get most of the lawns mowed before the weather unwinds tomorrow...by then it was getting dark and I still had to make dinner (peanut pork and rice with banana cake in a cup for dessert)...By the time The Undiscovered Country ended it was past 11 so will finish the circle cutting tomorrow...

Oh wow, this is hardcore paper modelling Simon and your patience and persistence with this is praiseworthy indeed.

Thanks, Shaun, although some times it feels like I am doing nothing but go round and round in circles...

We've all seen circles before, how about a pic of your freshly mown lawn, or the peanut pork and rice with banana cake in a cup?

I went to start assembling the wheels and noticed the smaller circles at the centre of many of them, the holes for a axles...

Image
A few quick whacks with the hammer later...

Image
..the first wheel was in the jig (not much more than a clamp and a couple of dodgy Dubai coins) to dry overnight...

Image
I 'sperimented some more and tried my stuffed apple cake in the oven this time...went down a treat...
