I really wanted to do something different and as far as I can see (without the Captured Butcher birds book) there are no photos of captured Dora's in US markings. That said I still would like to do a Dora in different marking but the only thing I could find were Russian birds but they are not as fetching to the eye as the other American POW 190's. Another scheme I love is this one.

Before I go searching for something does anyone know where I can easily get decals for a Dora in this Dress? It doesn't have to be this specific bird but one with the red / white undersides 8-) :???:

I believe one of the options in the box is for just that...

That's what I'm planning, certainly. There are decals for the stripes, but I think I'm going to try spraying the underside white, masking stripes and then applying a coat of red. The thought of all those long, thin decals makes me shudder.

Apparently Games Workshop Blood Red is just the right colour - I'm sure I've got a pot of it floating around somewhere.

Didn't manage to get cracking on mine last night because I spent all my time on the Hampden instead, but the plan tonight is to put some filler on the Hampden and then start on the Dora.

Mine's going to end up hanging from the bairn's ceiling so I'm not planning to do anything to the inside except paint the pilot and slap some grey around.

Red 3 referred to previously is an interesting scheme. IIRC the inscription translates roughly as "I fly for the state railways" and I think refers to the fact that the pilot, who was on ME 262 protection duties, was shot down more than once and returned to base (Achmer?) using the train. But of course I might be wrong!

was going to ask the same question as regards the starter set,so with this now clear i'll be starting my first g.b. with this forum.
will be using the starter set as a canvas and adding lots of stuff mostly from my spares box,but also robbing optional extras from other kits.there will of course be scratching a plenty.
more on this as i proceed.
cheers shaun

Does anyone know if JV44's Doras ever saw combat? I'm just wondering whether to add gunsmoke staining.

Great choice of kit for the GB, it’s a model I would have totally overlooked.

Thanks for introducing me to a fun little classic kit.
