Cheers, guys. Yes, mottling in 1/72 isn't something I've done much of! The decals will hide the worst of it, I think.

No, that was the third option. There's a small natural metal fuel filler cap there though.

Well, I got the paintwork done and was able to crack on with the decals last night, but examination this morning showed that they silvered. I added some Solvaset, but it doesn't seem to have done much good.....

Not sure what the deal is. I did my usual with Xtracrylix covered with Future, but the silvering appears to be pretty bad. The fact that Solvaset didn't help is very worrying. I won't know the full extent of the issue until I flat coat and that might not be til the New Year now. I'll get the rest of the model done though.

Well, she's as done as she'll be before I leave, and that means I'll need to mattcoat her after I get back, and add a bit of weathering. Whether you wish to call that a completion or not is up to you guys - it WOULD have been done had I not been going away first thing tomorrow morning!

Anyways, I got all the fiddly stuff done last night and touched up a bit of paintwork tonight in between packing. Here's where it stands:

Undercarriage looks a bit odd - I'll have to investigate when get back. I see a couple of other things I need to tidy up as well - these completion photos are less than flattering! Aerial wires after varnishing of course....

Most excellent, Paul. Sure looks the part. In my build I found the landing gear to be real weak links. They aligned OK but were very weak as far as supporting weight.

Again, well done.

Cheers, guys.

Bruce - re:81 - I'll recheck the decal guide when I get back. Re:silvering - I sure hope you are right, but the proof of the pudding is in the varnishing...

The open canopy does make the model look a whole lot better I think and if I make this kit again then I will probably make a concerted effort to have it with an open canopy.

Very nice build Paul, well done.
