Re: Ians D-9
Not yet, Bruce. I have been working on my Go229 for the Luft'46 GB. I have, however, taken this photo of the box!
I know I don't have long to build this and I am planning on making a start today - weather permitting!

Yep, I've nearly finished mine. Thing practically falls together out of the box...

Blitz is right, guys. I started this morning and like Brickie says it practically fell together.
I have followed all Bruce's advice in the pitfalls section by ignoring everything. Thanks Bruce!
A few smears of filler and a few swipes with wet'n'dry left me with just the canopy to add.
Here it is drying now.
Mrs. Ian wants me to do the version with the red underside. She would, wouldn't she! Doesn't she know how painful it is to paint red? Maybe she does.....
I'll build the wheels, etc separately and add them at the end.
Best get my H174 out.......

I concur with Bruce, if you have access to it Ian then I would use that instead of the H174 as I have never had a problem with coverage when I have used it and if you haven't guessed already XF-7 will be used on mine.Brews wrote:Tamiya XF-7 is your friend.

Mine seems to have come up OK with Humbrol 174 acrylic.

Re: Ians D-9
I don't really get on with Tamiya paint. Don't know why. Just can't seem to get the paint / thinner ratio right for brushing. As such, after a dark grey undercoat it has now had a coat of H174. Needs another coat then I can crack on with finding a suitable colour for the pale blue. Why oh why did Humbrol discontinue theirs.......?

Re: Ians D-9
I would have thought that humbrol 65 would have been a better substitute for RLM76, may not be correct in the real world but in the model world it seems close enough but then again that could just be me thinking out aloud....

And the red is done, the RLM76 equivalent is on and I have started on the camo. And I like it!

Patience, Bruce. I wasn't finished yet.
How's this now?
And this?
I've also started decaling the underside.
No drama yet but I a guessing that getting the spacing right is going be a proper pain!
I am working for the next couple of days no probably nothing more till the weekend.
