Previously built models
Here post images of previous builds of 'Boom! Boom!' GB eligible aircraft.
Re: Previously built models
OK, I'll start. Here's the Academy P-38J I built in 2009. I can recommend this model; it fits well, it's nicely detailed, and it looks pretty good too! All except the over large and bulbous underwing tanks, which I didn't use.
Oh - and it's probably worth investing in some AM decals!
regards,
Martin

Re: Previously built models
Monogram 1/48 P-61A with aftermarket decals. The model is about 15 years old and has been partially restored but I still have a bit of work to do. On my example, the opening parts of the transparencies were a poor fit, so I initially fixed them in the open position. However, they are very fragile and kept getting broken off and so I have now fitted them closed and filled the gaps with Testor's clear part cement. I need to repaint these areas and to make the model look a little neater. You can also see how Monogram molded one set of cowl flaps open and the other closed.
Additionally, I initially tried to get the model to balance on its gear without filling the nose so that I could build the model with the radome off to display the radar unit. But I couldn't get enough weight in to make this work so the model is much heavier than it needs to be to make it balance. If building with the nose cover off and the model is to balance correctly on its gear, the main gear and attachments need to be strengthened to take the weight.
