Looks really nice. Whats your method on prop tips - you get them sweet.

These ones had the yellow portion delineated by a raised line, so I just hand-painted by eye. Flat brush, relatively dry with thin enamel paint. Give 'em an hour and overpaint. Repeat as many times as necessary.Stamford wrote:Looks really nice. Whats your method on prop tips - you get them sweet.

Latest progress after battling jetlag most of the weekend. The detail painting is beginning to distract the eye from the overall black sheen and making it look more like the real thing (I think). I have got rid of the majority of the silvering, but some will remain. I can live with it.
It needs a more complete Klear coat (just done the wings and tailplane thus far), some weathering, and a few small bits and bobs put on. Then, hopefully, this one'll be finished.

Martin

No comments at all? I thought it was looking rather good!

More shine! I think will be the final varnishing?
Re: Martin R's Monogram F-82G
Well I think it looks really fine, Martin. I wouldn't make it shine like a die-cast though. A little sheen goes a long way with night fighters.

I agree. I still think I'll need to do another klear coat on the fuselage - apart from anything else, I need to seal in the decals. Depending on how it looks after that, perhaps I'll need some satin varnish on top to dull it down a bit.

Martin

Thanks, O-T
As life - or work, actually - has been getting in the way this week, I have made no further progress. However, I am planning tonight to get further towards finishing.
I need to put a wash in the undercarriage bays and on the exhausts, put on a coat of satin varnish and then do a little weathering.
I'm thinking a Sunday night finish may be on the cards. I've then got 2 days to finish the Vampire!

Martin

Did some washing of the gear bays and exhaust stacks, then got a satin coat on and it looks quite good, I think. I'll let it dry and give it a bit of light weathering and put the final bits on tomorrow night - at least that's the plan!Martin R wrote:Thanks, O-T

Right, that's enough. Here in all it's glory is the Korean War Twin Mustang night fighter.
Not totally happy with the satin finish. It was a bit cold here last night for spraying, and it's gone pebbly. However, in my defence the rather harsh backlighting of the pics isn't doing it any favours.
Nice kit to build oob. If I was doing it again, I would add a bit more to the cockpit, and replace the decals. However, I'll be happy to display it in my cabinet.

A menacing look plane and great addition to the GB.
