Looks very good so far James. I do have a question regarding the use of Blu Tack however. I tried that method once and the BT left greasy stains all over my paintwork and I've never tried it since! Is this a typical problem with BT or was I unlucky. Your paintwork here seems to be excellent.

I did this using fresh BT as my bench lump was no longer tacky. The paint was Xtracrylix. I've not experienced any problems with greasy marks really. Usually if a little BT gets left behind wiping it with a larger blob gets rid of it.

BTW. I tried IPA with the Dark Earth. It again worked fine but I got the impression the paint got thicker over time and harder to spray. The finish is very matt for both DE and the MS so I think theses the Tamiya (basically IPA) and plain IPA are evaporating too fast to allow the paint ot go on wet enough to form a gloss finish. Not that I got anything better than a satin finish when spraying Xtracrylix with their own thinners.

Well this is where I am at the end of the day and the four weeks.

Lots more masking for the underside, everything bar the top wing.

Again I lightened my colour with a touch of white. I went back to using Hannants own thinners and overall think they work best of all.

Image

Can't really see much of the underside in this shot so doesn't look a lot different. To the previous post.

Considering the amount of masking I'm pretty chuffed with the result very little touch up required, the black especially. It been a great GB and I've enjoyed it greatly as it was the motivation to start this kit which on first glance didn't look easy and is probably the most complex of the Welsh Model kits I have. However I've really enjoyed it and have given it my almost undivided attention over the last month and am determined to carry on so until it is finished.

Main jobs remaining:
Paint the props, about 5 different colours on them!
Metalise the turbine intakes.
Add a number of aerials
Sort out some decals and how to add the walk way line on the wing - I thinking of using a pen.

That's looking really, really nice, James. For walkways, don't discount those fine, black lines, bordering many decal sheets.
