Jeff's Gina with some muscle***Finished***
Jeff's Gina with some muscle***Finished***
I finally settled on a good old CBK.
The Matchbox (PK34) Aeritalia G91Y.
Boxart:
Two choices:
Sprues:
Decals:
I was able to remove most of the wax paper protector. Must say, it really did it's job. The rest should come off when soaked.
So, looks like fun. For once in a long time a kit that is all intact. The "trench digger" was off duty the day this kit was molded.

Re: Jeff's Gina with some muscle
Assembly starts by following the steps 1-4. These steps cover external fuel tanks, bombs and rocket pods. I chose to put the wing halves together at this time also. Overall fit of these parts are good.
I noticed that the rocket pods fronts are off center. I tried to re-align the pieces but it appears to be in the moulds. At least that is my story and I am sticking to it. A little bit of Tamiya Surface Primer is applied to check potential trouble areas.
My Gina will probably end up on a bomb hauler mission.
Attention is now turned to the cockpit for a little detailing and pilot figure which isn't that bad.
Only about 80 of these airframes were produced.

Re: Jeff's Gina with some muscle
Today's work,so far, included some internal parts painting and such. I have decided to go with the bombs as they look the part better than the Matchbox rocket pods. They have been painted as practice bombs. A white stripe will be added later with decal. Work in the cockpit area will be mostly by painting. Side panel decals from an old IPMS/USA sheet will be used. Over the years that sheet has been cut, sectioned and modified with great success and has been a good investment. The pilot figure is very adequate as viewed under the canopy. Funny there is no stand in this kit.
Lots of great photos found in Google Images.

Re: Jeff's Gina with some muscle
Probably right, Brews. It was another vendor purchase at a show.
So...........some landing gear work. After installing the wheels I used a punch set to make little disks to cover the holes that were cut all the way through the plastic.
Above that are a couple of chunks of tube. Drinking straws pilfered from a local fast food. They fit nicely into the exhaust section to blank things off.
Decals applied to the bombs and drying and side consoles are decalled with pictures coming in the next round.

Re: Jeff's Gina with some muscle
Now, that's a kit you don't get to see often. Great subject! I've made one when I was a pre-teen and revisited it some years ago. I still love this kit. Must be looking for a new one!

Re: Jeff's Gina with some muscle
After a little "Snowous Interuptus" I was able to find my way back to the bench to finish up the cockpit. A little wire and some paint dressed it up some what.
Here is how it looks in the fuselage.
The pilot figure looks to be taking his work very seriously. No doubt an attack pilot.
The wings are mounted now and setting up and after some dinner, I should be back at it.

I loved this kit as a kid , you don't see them come up very often either. Must track one down at a reasonable price. Great work so far.

Checking over the seam lines now. Again, I use Tamiya Surface Primer on all the seam lines. It fills cracks nicely and sands smooth easily.
Next I will work on the cannons in the nose. As you may know, Matchbox due to mould restrictions no doubt, have tme look like cockpit entry steps. Next pictures will so how I remedied the situation.

Re: Jeff's Gina with some muscle
Today's update is the replacement of the cannons in the nose.
Here is what comes with the kit:
A couple of minutes work with a razor saw and nippers and the offending piece is removed.
Next came the drill bit.
Followed up with some stretched tube cut to fit and glued on.
So with a little effort and not much time you can dress up the image. Now I am pressing on with seam work and masking.
