Some guidance please, what should I build ?

Post by JohnRatzenberger »

I see build are starting, but I am loath to without some agreement the subject is worthy ...

I suggested 9 (see the suggestion thread), of which Al is doing 2, so the remaining ones are shown in the poll. I can't do all 7, but could manage 2-3 depending on what they are. I have all the kits and need to get started.

The poll is up for 7 days, allows you to select up to 3, and you may change your vote.
As usual, please provide comments.

And if you see one you want to do, speak up !!!

The Rifleman. I just love the Airfix 54mm figures.

I chose 1. the Rifleman - because those Airfix Napoleonic figures are rather neat; 2. the Fury - because I know YOU want to, John! and 3. the Ajax, because there ought to be a ship.

Same three from me John. Regarding the Rifleman, I'd very much like to see the box art that has several of them in different poses. I have one figure and I'm sure other guys will have some or they could be sourced by November, so how would you feel about doing a diorama base large enough to accommodate five or six of them including your own? I'd be more than willing to send mine (and any others I can source) over to you if you want to start a production line! This is just a suggestion John, I don't want to pressure you into anything, so if you'd be happier just doing the one then that's fine and just tell me to wind my neck in as my Aussie colleagues often used to say.

The dog-fight double sounds great already - I hope you go for that one.

Cheers
Al.

EDIT: I just went off to find the box art which I knew I had seen, only to find it was posted by none other than your very good self! Hoist by your own petard methinks

I'd be happy to contribute one of the Riflemen if needed.

You might want to get some of these guys for the chaps in the background:

http://www.perry-miniatures.com/product ... ts_id=2563; (these are 28mm)

and these:

are 40mm from Sash and Saber

http://www.sashandsaber.com/catalog40NAP.php4;

With a couple of Airfix 54mms at the front and the others deployed behind, you'll force the perspective, AND not have to worry about hacking up AIrfix figues into the other poses...

bestest,
M.

That would be "hoist by my own sword bayonet" ...

I have 5 figures for the scene. If chosen, I will look for two more on evilBay -- one for spare parts and the other as the 6th standing separate from the art scene which I had totally forgotten about.

So far you guys are voting for the hardest ones ....

Al's post immediately above hit while I was doing this -- yes, I could look at alternate scales to make it work (and save work) -- Thanks !!!

Only a day left, not seeing much action -- should I have had another option, please don't build anything ?

I've voted for the Ajax. Ships lend themselves naturally to diorama's and this is a different box art because it brings you down to eye level to appreciate it properly.

Mind you those Riflemen would be something quite different....

Well, the people have spoken. Ollie Holmes jumped in PK-1 so my builds will be:

Airfix 95th Rifles
Airfix HMS Ajax
Airfix Re8-Roland DF Double

in that order, with the last being only if I get the others well underway ....

I'll put up build threads for the first two at least shortly.
