Thanks, Al -- got the books, got the tapes -- also another small pile of reprinted period bio's like Kincaid's "Random Shots" and Harris' "Recollections" ....

Back from our trip last week. Here's latest progress -- looks a lot like last post, but there are more parts.

I got 3 more Rifleman kits, for a total of 9. That's 6 for the display, 2 for me, and one for spares.

I'll now start the next stages of assembly, painting, etc. I suspect I'll spend time initially making up kit bags, rifles, etc - there are lots of straps to cut, details to paint, etc. In the meantime I can work on the bodies, legs, and arms for the poses. I've never done something like this so it'll be a bit of fiddling around until I get my rhythm.

OK, time to get to work again. I think the box of parts above is a pretty accurate record of progress.
I think my next step is to make legs in various positions, then the rest will be fairly easy.
Until I start painting ....

Back to work. First, I found some grass to use …

With all my parts cut and cleaned, it's time to start bending legs …. here's my first shot at visualizing what I want to do.

I also got out my wine foil and am flattening it out prior to cutting strips/straps for all the gear.

A good example of how to plan and try out ideas before committing to plastic.

That's clever.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

The boxart only shows the top of a gassy knoll with medium length grass, so I don't need much. It even comes with a tool for poking it in, so this should be interesting.

Have you made any further progress John, I've been looking forward to seeing this build. Posting deadline is rapidly approaching.

I have had numerous time issues and am sucked into a community project. It's a struggle but I'm still hoping to be done.

Nothing new, except I have looked seriously at how to cut the lower body halves to get the proper alignment for moving legs. The good news is that all parts are cut and cleaned; once I get the body/arm/leg positions, I'll be on an assembly line.

Don't count me out.
And don't leave the house early either :) .

Question. Is there a better person to mail to ? That is who lives in a larger city, closer to Telford, better postal service, that might give a last minute mailing a better chance ?

I live in Derby John, which is just over an hours drive from Telford. I'll have all of last years display in the car to give to the Airfix lads, and then my builds for this year, but I'm sure I can fit another one in (although it might mean the missus will have to get the train to Telford and meet me at the hotel! ).
I'll PM you my address if you are interested, but honestly won't take offense if you get a better offer mate. Just let me know.

cheers
Al.

Al, I have your Derby address, if you haven't moved too recently. I'll check if you might be a better prospect than James or others, if need be.
