Cheers guys!

A couple more nights of fettling, a rummage in the stash for just the right thickness of sprue and I've got myself a mini Dinah and another Corsair. Shame these won't count towards my A:B ratio!

Hats off to you! Very very nice, indeed!

I'm particularly impressed by the Dinah.

Very good, James.
Can I please have one of each in 1/144? ;-)

James, bravo, they are super.

Did you enjoy knocking them together?

Cheers
Jim

Yeah, I did though I've sanded half the skin off my thumb while holding tiny parts.

I've built them to good enough standard, though I did go as far as giving the wing and aerofoil X-sect and tapering the wing tips. It's amazing how accurate you need to be when cutting out the tail planes. A fraction of a millimetre out and they look asymmetrical. Given more time I'd etch control surfaces and undercarriage doors. Maybe I should become a pattern maker for Shed Models

It looks like you enjoyed it, the care and attention to them really show. I bet the painting will be enjoyable too.

Cheers
Jim

Great work - I'd count those little fellas towards my B ratio if I were you, properly scratched aircraft they are

Those look real sweet James, nice work indeed. So looking forward to seeing this one completed - one of my favourite aircraft as well.

Cheers
Al.

P.S. I've nicked one of my wife's metal thimbles as thumb protection for that kind of sanding - they take some getting used to but worth it I think.

Taking Brews' discription of IJA Grey as a grey/sky mix that is just what I did. White with a blob of black and Sky in it matched the colours I'd found online; don't use Tamiya' colour swatch, it look just like Sky, instead look for models using the actual colour, that said I did find this page of swatches which matched what I'd seen http://www.art-paints.com/Paints/Acryli ... -Grey.html. I mixed mine too be a quite a bit lighter to get to a halfway point with the boxart.

This went over a grey primer that has did darken it a little. The whole airframe had this tone I then added more white to the remainder and went over all the the upper surfaces. A coat of klear gets me to this point:

Cheers gents.

I have now finished my mini airforce. The Corsairs were completely hand painted. The Dinah got a coat of off white at the same time as big sister. The rising suns were masked to keep things even. Great fun to make and paint and I may propose a micro scratch build GB next year.

Oh yes!
They are fantastic James, canopy frame lines, hinge lines and micro blurs as well, top work Sir!

A micro scratch build GB idea sounds great fun.

Cheers
Jim
