I fully agree its the same here, the saving grace is the hard plastic responds well to scrapping so the seams are easy to remove.

Those figures look nice, they should be fun to paint.

For its age (1964 date stamp on one part) the detail in the four figures is good apart from the driver who has a club hand.

I'm going to try the air brush technique of spaying them white then spraying the shadows in black from a 45 degree upward angle and then the blue from a 45 degree downward angle, if that fails its back to the hairy stick.

I'm now out of my comfort zone painting the crew, I have given them a blow over with black dark blue and light blue just as an undercoat before I start to paint in the shadows and detail.

Don't fret, just treat them as you would with any detailed surface, such as a cockpit or wheels wells. Get the base colours done as neatly as you can then and washes and dry-brushing.

Time to get right out of my comfort zone and work on the background, I have put it off as long as I can so here goes.

I'm using foam board that has been sitting in my garage for the last seven years, I knew it would come in useful one day. To get the perspective I have made the background larger than the front and have tilted the whole thing back by about 30 degrees, this should help the viewer see the fire engine from the low angle like the box art, without having to get down to table level.

Now thats starting to come together nicely now Splash!

Your proving to be one impressive artist, the box art for the dennis and the tiger meet phantom free hand stripes!

Great progress Splash. How are you going to do the cobbled streets?because if they are round cobbles,one of my fellow members at our local model club used split peas for his cobbles on a diorama and the end result looked impressive.

Great work Splash, not a subject that I claim to know anything about but as a piece of modelling I'm sure that will look the business when it's finished.

My first thought is to use split peas as you suggested, I built a doll house for my wife and used them for the court yard and they do look good.

My cunning plan is to try split peas first, if that doesn't work use a photoshop produced cobble stone print.

My first task is to find a shop that sells split peas
