Re: Titan's PMmodel Lippisch P.13a
Ok I have a day off work which I wasn't expecting today because of a slight sniffle( not man flu I hasten to add) so I might as well get one of my planned Blitz subject out of the way, I started about ten this morning but I have only just got around to posting the progress photos.
So here are the contents of the box, not many of them.
Told you there was not a lot, eleven parts in total.
I know I could have this finished in a very short time but I am going to drag this out as much as I can today and then finish tomorrow as I have other things on the go around the house as my wife is not going to let my sniffle get in the way of some mini home improvements, especially as she has to work today...LOL.

Re: Titan's PMmodel Lippisch P.13a
Here are some photos of my progress so far.
First of all I attached some plastic card to the rear of the exhaust outlet to blank it off so as not to show complete emptiness when viewed from the back.
I tarted the card up with some old thin telephone wire which I cut to size, to add interest.
Whilst the card was out I also made a disk for the intake, again this was to stop anyone from seeing through when viewed from the front.
I added a head rest but apart from a instrument panel I think that will be all for the internals save the usual seatbelts.
The two halves are slightly miss matched so I will cut off all the attachment lugs around the model and then glue together the halves and hopefully with the lugs gone it will fit together a lot better than it does now.
Regards

Re: Titan's PMmodel Lippisch P.13a
Ok Jeff, I hope you enjoy the show...
The cockpit has had the plastic card treatment around the sills of the cockpit because the canopy is slightly undersized so by doing this it should end up being flush with the rest of the fuselage.
I also added a rear blanking panel to go behind the seat, the Ip will be sanded down once it is added and should push the canopy a nice snug fit....in theory.
The trailer needs some Mr dissolve putty around the sink marks and some also needs to be added to the front wheel section also.
I have also added MDP around the fuselage halve joins and can be sanded in about an hours time, with the lugs gone the halves have joined perfectly.
More later.
Regards
Mark

Skiving off Mark? tut tut....
Got to be worth it though eh? looking good so far, a very interesting Luft '46er. Weren't these things supposed to have been powered by coal/charcoal had they seen service?

Re: Titan's PMmodel Lippisch P.13a
Lol... you could say that Shaun.
You are correct about these things being powered by coal all be it in granular form I think it was the only fuel that was not in such short supply unlike petrol and oil at the time.
The seat has been painted and belts added, the side walls have also been painted and the ip too.
I will have something to eat then make a start on the trolly.
Later....

Re: Titan's PMmodel Lippisch P.13a
I would not of thought it even possible to have a flyable coal powered aircraft, just goes to show how inventive the German aircraft boffs were at the time.
I have gone around the base of the cockpit section with some Mr Putty and also installed the instrument panel.
I think my trailer is going to be painted with Tamiya XF-60 dark yellow and then slightly weathered.
More later.

Nice progress, Mark. Seems to go together pretty well. Pretty cool.
You taking a lunch break or "man-up" and get it done?

Re: Titan's PMmodel Lippisch P.13a
Thanks guys, I will do as much as I can in between other jobs today untill ten o'clock tonight which will be 12 hours then I have to go into work at 6am tomorrow morning so hopefully I should be able to continue and finish by the evening.
I know this is a very simple kit and could be finished within hours of starting it but I really am trying to do other stuff as well, this build was unplanned as I should have been working today so it's kind of spur of the moment stuff. It has meant though that I can take loads grub breaks and talk on the phone a lot as well
One more photo to add.
The klear has cured enough for me to test fit the canopy and it's not looking to bad, in fact it's a vast improvement than if no card shims were used so I will probably mask and then attach it and see where we go from there.
Regards

Always looks good if you can manage to "struggle" in on the Friday
The coal burner and trolley are looking good btw. It's such an odd shaped aircraft, hats off to the ingenuity of Herr Lippisch!

I really like how the trailer came out. When you first mentioned yellow, it had me thinking how that would look. Turned out really fine.
Your doing well so far and there is time remaining.
