Mark, I think you working towards a Blitzbau record here. Go for it.

What is the record, I'll take a guess that Merlin's got it though. ;-)
Usual photos but the build won't be yet for a few days.

Interesting Box Art. The Halifax is from 462 Squadron RAAF 100 Group RAF and is a Mandrel RCM aircraft. I am building Z5*J which is an ABC equiped A/C

Close...3 Hunters, a YF-22, a YF-23 and an F-16. Real Life intervened.

I also came close to completing a brace of Platz Hellcat in under 12 hours. Again, work intervened and I had to be satisfied with a 'normal' Blitzbau completion;

Thanks Bruce and doing the single seat has defiantly helped out here.

Ok started at 3.00pm GMT

Image

The first job was to box off the cockpit with strips of plastic card.

Image

The Instrument panel and coaming were also added.

Image

The seats were added and I blanked off th ejector chutes.

The two halves were then test fitted...

Image

A good fit and is actually better than the single seat version.

Image

35 minutes in and thats most of the hard work done, save making a controll column and adding the dials to the drivers panel and a couple of dials on the spying persons thingys that I made from and Eduard MG body from the D-11.

Moving swiftly on...

Learning from my lifting paint episode on my previous Blitz I have sprayed the blast panels first with Tamiya flat aluminium and will coat with Klear, the cockpit area has been sprayed with Xtracrylix RLM66.

Image

Image

I will paint the coaming black, dry brush the backseat gubbins and paint in the dials.

I forgot to add earlier that I have put two shims of plastic card beneath the exhaust outlet cones because they were sitting far to low down and needed lifting.

Image

So that's all for now better get back to it as there is some live football on telly tonight , well it's Arsenal but beggers can't be choosers can they.

Aha, I've missed two hours and twenty minutes due in no small part to decal problems. Good stuff.

That's a shame but it's something I have learned about Dragon's decals.

I've painted the dials extra large so they can see them better at night( well it is a nightfighter after all), added seatbelts, footrest and a control column and that's the pit finished.

I have got to paint the rear cones silver and then I wil close up both halves.

Not much to see as I am waiting for the canopy glue to set a little more, I am changing things slightly from normal and instead of adding the canopy at the end of the build it is going on now all masked up like.
The Blast area has been masked off and I am confident that the paint will not lift this time.

Image

When dry enough Rlm66 will be squirted around the frames and I will spray Nato black on the undersides.

Later.
