11 hours in and the engine has been assembled.

Image

It has been fitted into the cowling and attached to the fuselage.

After a search for my masking tape I painted the first coat of red on the tail. It'll need another coat or two before I'm happy with it. :frown:

I've got 12 hours to go but I'm going to bed now so I'll be back later.

Final update for today, after masking off the front of the cowling the rear had a coat of OD and I gave the undersides another coat of Neutral Grey and the tail another coat of red. It should be ready for a few coats of Klear when I remove the masking.

I've also fitted the undercarriage legs. The attachment points aren't very long so to be on the safe side I used superglue to try and get a stronger bond. I had to do this with the last one of these I built.

Just before I went to bed I noticed a gap around the front of the canopy so I applied a bit of filler and left it to harden overnight. This morning I removed the masking tape to reveal this..

Image

Surprisingly the red paint was still slightly tacky, must have been the cold weather. I spent the next hour touching up the paintwork and fitting the undercarriage doors so with three hours to go all that's left to do is Klear, decals, matt varnish and add the wheels.

Image

Should be finished in time.

The wheels are on and I've given it a few coats of Klear so it's ready for decalling.

Image

There aren't many decals so it shouldn't take long to get them on. I think I'll have a cup of coffee while I'm doing it.

The decals took a long time to come off the backing paper but they went on OK. The stripe for the fin was a bit wider than the white stripe I'd left so the red showed through at the sides. I touched it up so it doesn't look too bad now.

Image

It just needs a coat of matt varnish now to finish it off. :)
