That Dark Earth looks unlike my Hu:29. It's darker, deeper and browner. Odd.
No, just this Blitz, unlike all the others, I selected something that didn't require me to be a whirlin' dervish for 24 hours .... You never know how good it feels until you stop beating your head against the wall ....

Yes, the Hu29 DE does look a bit odd that way, although some of what you see may be the camera shot. I ought to crack another one just to check. I almost had a "disaster" with the DG, I grabbed the Hu30 not the Hu149 and only stopped after I had it all shaken and stirred .... That;s enough adventure for one build ...

Hu:149? Surely you mean Hu:116 or Hu:163, rather than Foliage Green.
?? My tin says Hu149 Dark Green and it looks like I expect. I never looked at 116 (US DG?) or 163.
Is there a chart of correct match-ups somewhere ? I know what I think, but that may not be right, and kit makers aren't consistent ...

Sky & Black are on, both need some touch-up in a bit …. If I get really picky, I could give a couple tweaks on the DG/DE where the Sky got out of control ….

Going well, except I did forget to post the lunch picture … but then again it was just leftovers from last night so you've seen it … I think we're going to run over to a sandwich shop for a really high-class Valentine dinner later ….

Brews wrote:116 (matt) and 164 are generally considered good matches for RAF DG, while 149 is a good match for RAAF Foliage Green. I will forgive you. At least you didn't use the Hu:30 :) I have so many old models that I did in Hu:30 ...
Interesting, I would have thought Hu30 would be good for the RAAF green .... But then the only competant color matcher in this house is not typing on this keyboard at the moment ... One of the reasons I liked being in the Army, I didn'thave to color coordinate squat, except to be sure of the same amount of fade between blouse and trousers. After the Army, we went to Geranimals ....

That is going well. Using enamels in a blitz is like winning a wet race on slicks.

Yeah, I chose simple kit, hard paint. Usually, I pick some complex monster that I can rattle can in one color ...

Dinner for me was a Cuban press and a Samuel Smith Nut Brown followed by a Philly Almond slice.. Wifey had a steak & cheese followed by a pecan pie. We shared the sweet potato fries but didn't like them because they were cooked with cinnamon. Everything else was great.

Prior to going out I had done all the 2nd coat & touch-up I care to do, almost pulling defeat from the jaws of victory -- I thinned the Sky a bit much and it lifted off the 1st coat on one stabilizer. Repairs made. I also put the gear doors on, cut the decals close, found all the right things for the serials, and even laid down a dot of silver as a base for the formation lights.

Next task is a coat of Future overall, let that dry and then start on decals.

@Bruce -- it would be before 9pm EST.

I consider their Nut Brown the best there is, it's been my favorite beer for years, I know well into my 2nd decade.. Unfortunately I can no longer get it in the larger (18.5oz) bottle and these small ones cost and I vary my mix. Their Taddy Porter is also excellent.

I don't think I've ever seen Sam Smith on draught here; it's getting so folks are even pulling Guinness draught because it takes up 2-3 times the space of other "beers" .... I have to get it from a can now; used ot be bottle but they pulled the widget and it tastes terrible.

1900 EST, Tuesday, 14 Feb -- 22 down, 2 to go

1830 EST, Future on & drying, despite one gear door that failed to read the in the contract about staying put.

I studying the profile for decal placement I finally figured out there is supposed to be a camera port in the left side compartment back where the roundel is. Given the recon role, I should have thought about it earlier -- too late now, move along …..

Well according to the instructions I read through the bottle, the Future is dry … back when decals are on.

I may be pushing it to get a coat of flat on before time ….
