The George Harrison psychedelic mini would be a cool build.

If anyone could do this you can Splash. :ha: :ha:

All joking aside I look forward to seeing how you make this one come to life. ;-)

I think it is a culture thing, them on the other side of the pond have their Mustangs we have the Mini. :ha: :ha: :ha:

I think with the Mini you either love them or hate them, I'm fully on the love them side of the fence, having owned eight of them over the years.

I think people would be surprised that in the sixties the Mini competed and often thrashed cars that were much bigger and more powerful in saloon car racing, for example the Jaguars, Ford Falcons and Lotus Cortina's.

This kit in 1/42 is small, but quite well detailed and should be fun to build.

Now we have a cultural problem, because under the rules of protocol I'm not supposed to agree with you Dirk.

I can only agree with you that the Mini is not the most handsome car in the world (only from some angles) if you agree the mustang is only good in a straight line.

I guess that would be why we have more 1/4 mile straight line tracks then anything else here.

England's not big enough to have 1/4 straight tracks, that's why we have cars that can go around corners. :ha:

I must admit I don't like American muscle cars, but I do make an exception with the early Mustang's they were classic icons, so was the Ford GT40.

I fully agree with that statment.

Whilst hunting through my stash for a 1/43 Ford GT40 I found two more Heller 1/42 Mini’s, one as a french special in the horrid blue plastic with chromed plastic parts and the other the same as this build.

I also found a 1/32 scale MRRC Jersey Mini which if I’m not mistaken is a re-mould of the old Airfix Mini. It looks like a nice kit of an early mk1 with both the Morris Mini Minor, Austin 7 & Mini Cooper grills.

I have started on the interior by first removing the window winders as the mk1 had sliding window, next I attacked the dashboard by removing the left hand drive instruments and by making a scratch built IP.

I did a small amount of work on the mini tonight, the interior has had a coat of red and I have added external hinges to the doors, as you c an see my work bench is a bit crowded.

Side indicators have been removed and door hinges added and a quick blow over with white primer.

Tonight I masked the mini and sprayed it red, unfortunately by mistake I picked up the Vallejo "Turn Signal Red" it was not until I had sprayed the whole car that I thought the colour was to light and didn't look right, Dhooooooooo its a metallic colour.

A quick blow over with Scarlet Red quickly sorted the problem with no trouble.

As I had three cars on the table it was out with the black and a quick spray of the underside of all three and the inside of two.

That's a busy workbench you've got there. They're all looking good so far.

You've cunningly gone for the 70s custom car candy apple red look by spraying your solid red over metallic. The door hinges look very effective. As I am too lazy to walk to my bookshelf or even invoke Google to remind myself, did these rally cars have the twin fuel tanks?
