They did indeed have twin fuel tanks, with a filler cap on both sides.

I thought I would just use a piece of round sprue for a filler cap.

Dont want to expletive deleted by site admin on your party but...The door shape and size is wrong for a mk1.The front bottom corner is rounded on a MK1 and the 'shoulder' on the 'B' post is a different shape.

It looks good all the same.

Well spotted you are right on both accounts, am I going to sort it out in 1/43, I don't think so.

P.S you forgot to mention the smaller rear window, the 10 inch wheels and the tail light cluster, but I won't tell if you don't :ha:

Is that the one next to the very very long bent gear shift leaver? :ha:

I have also just spotted that the Mk 1 had the rear number plate light below the number plate, the rear number plate was on hinges so you could drive with the boot open and the number plate would hang down and still be legal.

That's not a gear lever, it's a magic wand.

I’m just checking, in the back of my mind I think the rally cars had the gear lever extension set up like the later cars.

I have an original Austin Mini Coopper 998cc Service Parts List & the original garage servicing manual, somewhere in the house.

Found the books, you will love this under the body section of the manual it says the following

Stretched panels
Stretched panels which are liable to cause drumming can be rectified by local shrinking, A liberal heap of wet asbestos is placed over the stretched panel at the point of greatest resiliency and a hole just large enough to apply the flame from the oxy-acetylene torch is made with a finger through the centre of the asbestos. The portion of the panel which is visible is heated to a cherry-red colour and is afterwards cooled off by the wet asbestos which surrounds it.

When I get time, I will take a photo of the section in the book to show you. Can you imagine what the H&S guys would say to that nowadays?????

Sorry but other builds and a new job has meant that I will not have time to finish this build in time.
