I didn't want to do something this small in the classic dark green or dark blue finish so I had a look on the net and came across this:

http://www.ebbro.com/Catalogue2010/LOLA ... /index.htm;

So 3 coats of GS Madder Red were applied, it's still darker than I would like as this dunderhead forgot to put a light base coat (white or yellow) on before the red. NOTE the flash makes it lighter than it is. Now I can't replicate all the decals so I've just stuck with the chevron and racing numbers - though I've yet to add the actual numerals.

Neat looking scheme James, it's looking larger than 1/76.

Looking good and some great detailing for something so small.

So close yet so far! I'm really fed up.

Home made decals added - good
Clear coat - good
Glazing in -good
Wheels on and body halves joined - good.
Fill headlights with superglue - ahhhh!!!

I had added three layers of glue to the headlights. The first got left to dry the previous night, nice and clear but needed some more due to shrinkage. OK add some more and then then I decided to add a third at 30mins later. What a mistake. As the second layer hadn't fully set I think the different drying rates have caused it to wrinkle up. Really have bodged it on the last corner and at the moment don't know what to do

Drilling or sanding are going to screw the surrounding finish which will require the whole thing be painted again. I don't adding anything else would help.

That's a real shame James as it looks great otherwise. Could you just mask off the front end along the forward edges of the white 'V' so you're not having to re-do the whole car? A rounded grinding bit in a Dremel should make short work of removing the shrivelled glue.

What Mike said, then fill the lights with epoxy or build them up with glue'n'glaze finished with a coat of klear.

I had thought of glue'n'glaze (PVA) but wasn't sure how clear it would be too that depth I should go and put a blob out and see what it look like tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Dam shame James, I'm confident you will sort it out. I was wondering if another layer of CA would hide the wrinkles or are they too deep?

Cheers Jim. I've successfully drilled out the superglue and repainted. I'm going to build it up with glue'n'glaze as suggested with at least 24hrs between coats so will take a couple of days to be finished.

I've layered glue'n'glaze up before and it's been fine James, as you say just leave plenty of time between layers. You really do need a coat of klear over the final coat though as it does seem to suck up the dust even when it's thoroughly set.

Can you use super glue remover?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Forgot to post this image showing me drilling out the superglue. The car is firm secured to a block of wood stuck to the bench. I then pivoted the drill on a sponge sander that was the right height (and to hand).

That looked like a delicate operation. I didn't realise it was that small.
