I had a Mk.II estate. Funny thing about the Mk.II estate was that it was only Mk.II from the front bumper back to the A pillar. From the windscreen back, all of the panels were from the Mk.I estate. The load carrying capacity of the estate was especially handy to carry all of the bottles of water needed to keep topping the radiator up. A friend rather rudely christened it the Steaming Demon.

Oh Lordy a Mark 1 Eccie! I do like these cars and I believe that the full size now command quite a price in decent nick, especially the sportier versions. I'd go with black on the pedals to simulate rubber covers, I don't recall any silver down there.

That's the front right wing James. Nice lumpy bits round where the headlight should go.

The engine is done. I'm pretty sure the fan would not have been in silver, probably black or maybe orange. Also I reckon it would only have had about 6 blades. Obviously I could be wrong, that's on memory and I couldn't find any decent images of a Mk I engine although I didn't try that hard. Just not picking really.

Matey has a 'randome tan' coloured shirt and a tie that is what can only be described a puke coloured. Excuse the focus but this picture was just to give an idea of the colours.

Check out this site for great Ford Escort images http://www.dmmultimedia.com/escort_04.htm

Ford did a sporty version of the Escort called the Mexico.

You have your work in front of you with the shell but it's a good start on the engine. As far as fans go I'm convinced that Ford just stuck whatever they had lying around on there. I've even seen 4 bladed fans on Escorts. They might have been broken though.

Did somebody say fast Escorts? Fast Mk1 'Scorts included some very desirable machinery courtesy of Ford's Advanced Vehicle Operations in Essex:

RS1600 BDA (Detuned Formula 3 Cosworth BDA engine)
RS Twin Cam, aka "Twink" (actually pre-dating AVO, Lotus engine)
RS2000 (Ford Pinto engine)
RS Mexico (Ford Kent engine)

All. of course, much prettier than the MkII.

Time for an update.

The engine block etc. fit into the chassis quite nicely.

The colour recommendation for the upholstery was a kind of dark rusty brown. I didn't like that so I'm going with something a bit lighter.

The rest of the work (excluding the shell)

That's all for now.

Now this ladies and gentlemen, I'm sure you will agree, is one suave dude. He's a man about town. He's confident. He knows what he wants and he gets it. Nothing stands in his way. And you know why? Because he's dressed to kill. Nay, dressed to thrill. And he drives a MkI Ford Escort.

Enough said.
